October 13, HBIS Group Chairman Yu Yong made his speech in the meeting of Executive Committee Meeting of World Steel Association（worldsteel）in Brussels, Belgium and executives from Saudi Arabian Steel, US Steel, POSCO, Clark Vale Steel, Nippon Steel, China Baowu, JSW, GGB, JFE, AM, Tata, Dexing Steel, Nucor Steel and VAG did also attend the meeting .

In his remarks, Yu Yong said mankind facing the challenges of climate changes and carbon reduction was the common consensus. At present, more than 150 countries in the world have defined the goal of carbon neutrality, and green low-carbon has become a common action for global industrial development. The steel industry in the world has the same goal and direction in accelerating green and low-carbon development, and due to the differences in resource endowment, technology and other aspects, it can be different in their own path selection. Asia’s steel production capacity accounts more than 70% of the world’s, especially China as the world’s largest steel production and consumer, the exploration and practice of green and low-carbon development of Chinese steel industry is of inspiration and reference significance to the world steel industry.China’s iron and steel industry focuses on achieving the goal of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality", focusing on the innovation of energy structure and process structure, etc., by transforming long process to short process, increasing the proportion of electric furnace short process steelmaking, using coke oven gas to implement low-carbon metallurgical process revolution such as hydrogen metallurgy, and carrying out a series of effective innovative practices. It provides a new development path for the green and low-carbon development of the steel industry.

October 14 and 15, Yu Yong also attended worldsteel 2024 Annual Conference and general meeting of all member companies, having thorough discussions of executives of world steel community in global economy and market forecast and carbon removal technologies. HBIS Vice President Li Yiren also attended the meetings.
